Expert Insights Needed for Research on Early Stage Impact Investments

I am working on a project that is examining the current funding environment for early stage/startup Social Impact Organizations (b-corp, impact investments, triple bottom line, third sector, mission based, purpose driven, etc. – whatever you choose to call it…) relative to the environment for purely profit driven firms. While I am sure our focus area may twist, turn and broaden as the research progresses, our initial assumption is that the Impact Investment Universe is much more developed for later stage organizations and that the Social Impact Organizations face a much tougher challenge in funding their early stage development. Further, we are interested in benchmarking the “Social” startup funding experience against that of the more traditional “Profit” startups.

If you are active in the Impact Investing Universe, either as a funder or a funding recipient, I would be very interested in speaking with you and getting your insights. It will only take a few minutes of your time and I will gladly share the resulting research with you when it is completed. If you have not been directly involved but have some ideas of people I should be sure to speak with (funders, the funded, or other impact investing rockstars), please get in touch as well. Any and all help will be appreciated!
