Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel District receives unsolicited PPTA proposal

A consortium of five well know AEC firms has submitted an unsolicited proposal to design, build, finance and maintain a new parallel Thimble Shoal Channel Tunnel running from Cape Charles, VA to Virginia Beach, VA.  This proposal was submitted to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel Commission under Virginia Public-Private Transportation Act (PPTA).  A 90-day competition period began on January 15, 2014, allowing for other interest firms to submit their unique proposals through April 14, 2014.

The members of the “Parallel Crossing Consortium” include:

  1. Skanska USA Civil Southeast, Inc.
  2.  Kiewit Infrastructure Co.
  3. Philip A. Shucet Co.
  4. Weeks Marine, Inc.
  5. Parsons Brinckerhoff Inc.
