Panama Canal springs a leak
As if the Panama Canal expansion project needed another setback… While testing the newly installed Cocoli Lock a crack appeared in the base concrete allowing water to seep (pour?) through. The Canal Authority and construction team are currently working through trying to find a structurally sufficient remedy for this and there’s been no word on how long the repair might further delay the opening of the new locks. From a construction viewpoint, it’s probably not the end of the world and can be fixed. However, its just another negative footnote in what has already been a trouble project.
